As I am going through my journey of becoming my best self, I have found such an incredible amount of valuable practices, advice, wisdom and lessons to help me along the way. There is no denying that there is a cycle of thoughts, words, actions and attitude that impact everyday experiences. My latest challenge is what I say to myself and yes, I talk to myself a lot lol! I was so disappointed when I realised that the little voice in my head was the biggest negative Nancy I had ever met so I needed to take immediate action to turn her into a positive Polly.

Studies have shown that humans have anywhere from 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day but according to some research, as many as 80% of our thoughts are negative. This research really saddened me and got me thinking about my children’s future because self-talk patterns develop from the day you learn to talk, and I want nothing more than for my children to be happy. I hope that by changing my own self-talk patterns it will create a positive habit for my children too.

Look on the bright side

I stumbled across this amazing quote and incredible picture while browsing the web recently and it took my breath away. I find myself getting trapped in the comfort of old habits or stuck dwelling in the shadows of the past. I feel unhappy in the direction i’m looking yet forget that I can simply turn around. You would think that by now I would have learnt that only I have control to make these changes but I guess that’s the beauty of personal growth and I definitely still have a long way to go.

Searching for my inner zen

I had a moment of inspiration when I put together this sneaky little logo of mine. I am aware that its not perfect and I’m totally cool with that because imperfect is perfect to me. So, I’m sure a lot of people would be wondering what this means and to be totally honest this was not planned at all, it wasn’t until I finished it that I had a moment of realisation that I had subconsciously put together an accurate representation of my life! While on my journey of trying to become my best self I have come across so many different religions, beliefs, philosophies and practices that I find myself caught in a juggling act. Now maybe incorporating a bit of everything into my daily life is just what I need but before I can do that I really want to understand and practice each option individually so I can give the time and attention to the things that work for me.

Searching For My Inner Zen

It can be a challenge to find a balance in life without adding these extra things into the mix but I truly believe that each of the above symbols represent a more positive quality of life not only for myself but to the people who surround me.
